Modern slavery can be understood as work that is performed involuntarily and under the menace of any penalty. It refers to situations in which persons are coerced to work through the use of violence or intimidation, or by more subtle means such as manipulated debt, retention of identity papers or threats of denunciation to immigration authorities.
Utilibee has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We are dedicated to acting ethically in all of our operations, and we hold all of our working relationships to the same standard.
We are also committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business regarding employment, and in our approach to tackling potential modern slavery from suppliers, consistent with our obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
We expect the same high standards from all of our business partners- all of our contracts include specific prohibitions against modern slavery as defined above.
Scope
This policy applies to all persons working for the company, or on our behalf of us in any capacity. It is communicated clearly from the outset. This policy is not a part of any employment contract, it is a standard for anyone who works with us or for us, and can be updated if required.
Compliance
You must ensure that you read and adhere to this policy.
The prevention, detection and reporting of modern slavery in any area of our business is the responsibility of everyone working for, or with us. You are required to avoid any activity that might lead to, or suggest, a breach of this policy. If you believe that this could be happening, or you fear it may happen, you must notify your manager at the earliest possible time. If you’re not entirely certain, we still encourage you to raise it. Good faith concerns will be handled confidentially, and will be inconsequential if you turn out to be mistaken. You are legally protected as a whistleblower, and won’t face any negative repercussions as a result of an honest concern.
Breaches
Any employee who breaches this policy will be investigated and may face dismissal for misconduct/gross misconduct. Working relationships outside of employment will be terminated if the other party breaches the policy as described above.
